Don't Let My People Die supports the sustainable survival of nomadic people in Africa.

Nomadic life is threatened by successive drought; more and more nomad families are forced to give up their traditional lifestyle because they've lost all their livestock.

Last year's terrible drought, followed by the worst locust infestation seen in years wiped out crops; The herders not only lost livestock to the drought, but they were forced to sell off skinny animals at very low prices just to buy food.

The organizations we support help the nomads replenish their herds. They digs wells and help build food banks so in the dry season people can get by.

Every year is a hard year in nomad Africa, it is always a good time to help.

"Government officials and aid experts alike say despite the decent harvest, in 2006 many communities still will not be able to escape the hunger-poverty cycle. "While food security conditions have temporarily improved following the harvest, a severe hunger season (April-September 2006) is expected for the most food insecure households," noted a 15 February bulletin from the USAID Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS)."
